Lee and J.J. Shubert, dramatic makers and an establishing individuals from the Theatrical Syndicate set out to manufacture a venue memorializing their sibling, Sam, who had passed on quite a while prior in a railroad mishap. Two performance centers were fabricated, one in Philadelphia and one in New York. The Shubert Theater in Philadelphia was worked in 1918 on the site of the destroyed Horticultural {Agricultural} Hall that incorporated the reuse of the Hall's marble staircase in the performance centers' inside outline. The Theater opened in 1918 with a street creation of a melodic from London and New York called Chu Chin Chow.
